From Garden to Table

I cannot get over how quickly my garden has grown.   My eldest sister visited and we got cracking and it was done by 4 January.   My younger brother visited from the UK and said I should extend it.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words:

IIn the front there are baby carrots, the next row back is spinach, the next row back to the left are beetroot, and brocolli and the last row are dwarf beans.

The area to the left that has just been extended is where my leaks have been planted.

Out of camera range against the fence, are my celery plants.

I got a pleasant surprise yesterday.  I thought this brocolli was ready for picking.  But now I am not too sure.

I did pick it and I did cook it - but now I am wondering whether or not I should have left it.

At what point do you pick them?

The brocolli was only big enough for two meals.

So what do you have in your garden?

What I am enjoying is bringing the freshness of the garden to the plate.   It is far cheaper than store bought vegetables, but it does take up a lot of time and energy but from the taste perspective I would not have it any other way.

I look forward to your comments.

Regards,
