Hi Chef Jacob and everyone in the Stella Culinary community
I hope everyone is well. I was hoping Chef Jacob and other seasoned chefs might be able to help me out with this one. I’m a first-year culinary student and new to the culinary world and I would really like to create my own signature dish. I always here of chefs having a signature dish and I really feel it’s time for me to create a dish that represents me on a plate. The problem is that I’m not very creative, artistic or have good imagination, I’m struggling to be able to create my own dish and would like some advice on where to begin. Some chefs just choose a dish that already exists such as spaghetti bolognaise, but that dish has been around before they were even born and I don’t see how they can claim it as their ‘signature dish’ when they didn’t create it. I don’t want to rip off anyone else’s dish but completely create a new dish that hasn’t been made before (or at least not one I know of) but I don’t even know where to start. Can anyone give me some guidance on where to start or how to begin working on creating a brand-new dish from scratch. Thanks guys
