The REAL Wild Rice

I am from Minnesota and can tell you that most places that serve wild rice are serving you paddy rice.  It is not the same at all and you are really not getting what you paid for.

You can only get true wild rice from a few select places and they are hard to find.

Paddy rice is mostly all black.  The best real wild rice will look like this.

The left side is uncooked and the right side is cooked.  The best source I have found for real wild rice is from a company called

Scenic Waters

17324 Scenic Highway NE

Blackduck, MN 56630  (218)-835-6250  1-800-506-6250

It is a father and his three sons who harvest natural, wild grown, wild rice off the lakes in Minnesota.

I have tried all kinds of wild rice in Minnesota and I can tell you this company by far has the highest quality of wild rice and there is a bid difference in its taste from any you have had in the past.  Wild rice is very healthy for you and complements chicken, fish, and beef very well.

I usually like to make it and then mix in some vegetables fried in butter (onion, celery, carrot, and read pepper)
