  • Hello and thanks! from Cape Cod

    Forum topic

Hello everyone, and thanks for the resources you share here. After a month or so of lurking, it's time to stick my head up and say hi.

I am a home chef gently working my way out of some deep and comfy cooking ruts, and learning to cook food more like what I enjoy in restaurants. My first love was baking, from the time I was a girl and my sister and I tried to fake our way through a first loaf with only Joy of Cooking for a guide. Alas, we were in Santa Fe, and read the high altitude directions too late...

I'm currently a student at the Faulkner State's Gulf Coast Culinary Institute in Gulf Shores Alabama and I am so excited to have found this website! Thanks Chef, for taking the time to do this, to help others. I sat down and watched just about every video on here in one sitting!

Hello, my name is Sherry! I'm a home cook who's thankful Chef Jacob is willing to share his knowledge and time! I'm excited about learning more about cooking and hope to improve our family's cuisine. :-)

By the way, are there any other novice cooks out there besides me? I just cook plain Southern cookin' dishes-no professional training ;-) Thanks. This looks like it'll be fun.

    G'day everyone.

My name is Brian (pseudonym Jacobite.)

I'm a little embarrassed to say that I've been watching from the sideline for quite a long while without contributing to the forum; however, I've finally made the effort to get into the game, and (hopefully) make a  useful contribution.

Finally getting around to this, and since I asked Jacob to change my screen name to something a bit more personal (and a bit less corny), I thought I'd throw something down here....

So I have been looking for a site like this for a long time and finally stumbled upon this when I was searching for the proper way to cook a duck breast. Can't wait to start going through all the podcasts and videos. Hope to meet some great people on here.

A while ago I found what I think was Jacob's original post on his "Death Row Meal". I recently got lazy and thought I would pull it up online and in doing so found this site.

    What a gem!

I am sure I will be lurking for a while. This site is so much better than 99% of the food sites I have been to.

    Good job and hello.
