Just a Sandwich

When I was younger and I was out eating in a restaurant with my family there was a sandwich on the menu that I I had never heard of.

Ask the waitress about it.

She described it and it sounded delicious, so figured I would try it out.

It was really good, though very rich.

I started to see it on more retrurants menu. In fact Just about all restuaurants had it on the menu after that. Then it faded, and I think a person would be hard pressed to find it on menu's today.

Well yesterday I decided to make one.

Using my own smoked turkey, some sliced ham from my easter ham (that i cooked in the smoker), copious amounts of swiss cheese mayo a little dijon mustard, egg and milk vanilla three slices of bread. I put it all to gather, and threw it into a pan to fry in some clarified butter. until it was  a golden brown on each side.

A dill pickle, and chips on the side and I was was set.

What a gut bomb. Good but oh my.

I figure the main reason for it's disapperance is concern of health to a lot of folks today. Still I think it is all about moderation.

Have you figured out what sandwich I am referring to yet?

Maybe some of you are not old enough to have run into it or even heard of it,or at least tried it.

The Monte Crisco is the sandwich I speak of.

Basically a grilled ham ,turkey and cheese on steroids. Sometimes it will just be one of the meats and a different cheese used but hey this was combo I made.
